It’s a fair question, and one we hear a lot.
The good news is that defibrillators are designed to be used by anyone. In a high-stress moment, you won’t need to figure anything out. Just switch it on and follow the voice prompts. They talk you through each step in a calm, steady tone.
Worried about making a mistake? You won’t. The defib checks the casualty and only delivers a shock if it’s needed. You can’t do any harm by using it, but you could do a lot of good.
If the idea still makes you nervous, we’re happy to help. A quick demo or bit of hands-on practice can make all the difference. You’re not on your own.
